Isn't the 20 questions game basically a fact database and a binary search? So you have objects and every object has attributes. You want to identify the object the questioner is talking about, so you ask the question that divides your dataset best. Interesting is: 1) how to get missing attribute values for single objects 2) how to get new attributes you could ask for 3) synonym detection 4) error detection / correction
